The New River Academy is continually seeking tax-deductible donations for scholarship purposes.

Currently, the New River Academy offers these academic scholarships. These organizations have committed to promoting education via multimedia with the goal of developing future leaders and ambassadors.
Slalom Semester Scholarships
We are seeking to raise $10,000 in academic leadership scholarships for this positive educational and athletic opportunity. Daveyhearn.com and the New River Academy proudly announce a $3,000 leadership scholarship to the author of the best original composition describing whitewater racing to the school’s slogan:
“And that has made all the difference.”
Have you ever thought of attending Huge Experiences’ New River Academy high school for kayakers?
- Do you want to train and compete on the nation’s best slalom courses?
- Have you had a remarkable experience on the river that you want to write about?
- If so, here is an opportunity to receive a $3,000 Leadership Scholarship and find yourself studying on the banks of, and then paddling, the best rivers and whitewater parks in the United States during the spring 2008 semester.
THE RULES
- Applicant must be thirteen-eighteen years old.
- Only one composition per member per category will be accepted.
- Entry must be solely the work of the applicant; plagiarized entries will not be accepted.
- Entries should be about a whitewater racing incorporating the school’s slogan, “And that has made all the difference.”
- Previously, published works will not be accepted.
- All entries become the property of DaveyHearn.com and New River Academy.
- A panel of faculty from www.DaveyHearn.com and New River Academy will judge entries.
- Students must have a 3.0 grade point average.
- One scholarship/person.
SUBMISSIONS
- All entries must include a cover letter that lists: your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, current grade level, and your high school name and address.
- Entries may be fiction, non-fiction, poetry or news writing.
- Entries must be double-spaced and no more than 1,500 words in length.
- All entries must be submitted via email, as an attachment in Word document or Acrobat PDF format, to hugeh2o@yahoo.com
DEADLINE
- Entries must be received by October 12, 2007.
AWARD
- $3,000 Leadership Scholarship to the author of the best original composition.
- The Winner and all other applicants will be notified via e-mail and/or by mail.

$2,000 Durango Whitewater Center for Excellence Leadership Scholarship
The Durango Whitewater Center for Excellence and the New River Academy proudly announce a $2,000 leadership scholarship to the author of the best original composition describing a remarkable slalom kayak experience.
Have you ever thought of attending Huge Experiences’ New River Academy high school for kayakers? Want to train and compete on the nation’s best slalom courses? Have you had a remarkable slalom experience that you want to write about? If so, here is an opportunity to receive a $2,000 Leadership Scholarship and find yourself studying on the banks of, and then paddling, the best rivers and whitewater parks in the United States during the spring 2008 semester.
