Slalom Schedule for Spring Semester 2008
Program: Slalom Competition/Training Semester
Destinations: Best US slalom training facilities and junior events.
Finally! A college prepatory school that will coach and take junior slalom athletes to slalom events. Now that the United States has established the best whitewater courses in the world juniors can take full advantage of the training and competition opportunities with the New River Academy. The New River Academy provides an excellent accredited education and training to select slalom athletes. See www.kayakschool.org for academic information.
Tentative Schedule: This schedule is based on the 2007 USACK slalom events schedule. Official Spring 2008 Slalom events dates will be released post the fall USACK 2008 scheduling meeting.
Third Quarter- Tentative dates
- 1/30 Students arrive for spring semester. Arrivals scheduled for Charlotte between 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
- 2/6 Depart for San Marcos, TX (http://www.redriverracing.org/)
- TBA San Marcos River Paddling Festival is typically scheduled mid- Feb.
- TBA Train at US National Whitewater Center (http://www.usnwc.org/)
- 3/7-3/15 Train for US Open on Nantahala River, NC.
- 3/16 to 4/2 Spring Break
Fourth Quarter- Tentative dates
- 4/3- Return to school. Arrivals should be scheduled to Charlotte between 4:00 to 6:00 pm
- 4/12-13- Big CASH Race. Dickerson, MD
- 4/13- Depart to train at the Adventure Sports Center International http://adventuresportscenter.com/; Deep Creek Lake, MD
- 4/26-27 Olympic Team Trials. Charlotte, NC
- May 17-18 Junior National Team Trials. Charlotte, NC
- May 18 Graduation Ceremonies and Banquet, 7:00 pm Charlotte, NC
- May 19 Students fly home from Charlotte. Departures should be scheduled between 9:00 to 10:00 am
