Student Life on the Ottawa

Students built a fire next to this great wave they discovered 100 yards from school base.
Life on the Ottawa River is sweet. We have been paddling every day, making big bonfires and trying to keep warm in our sleeping bags. Everyone here is very happy with all the play the Ottawa has to offer. All of us have been surfing huge waves and going very big. The main feature we have been on is Big Bus Eater. We all want to surf mini bus eater but it is not in yet.

Just six periods of classes until students ride the Keener ramp and surf giant waves.
Everyday the survival class and others have been gathering wood and keeping a big fire going right outside the door. Some classes are held out by the fire and other classes are held inside. The fire is a place where people gather to keep warm and hangout with friends. The fire is nice because the place we are staying at does not have a heater. The fire is cool too, because it gets you outside away from the cluttered house.
The wave is so awesome. Bus Eater is one of my favorite waves. It is big, steep, and fast. Which means you can go really big on it. Everyone here has surfed it and enjoyed it. With the levels dropping and the wave becomes trashier, more people are less eager to throw themselves into it. A few of us are still surfing it without any hesitations. If the level drops more Mini Bus will come in and that wave is the wave we all have been waiting for. There is also another wave we discovered a couple days ago. It is located about 100 yards from our door. It is smaller than bus eater but it is fun and steep. Everyone enjoys surfing that wave, you can leave and come back to the house whenever you choose.
The Ottawa River is one of the best locations for the school. People can go out in the morning for a paddle session before school, if they are not too cold. The place we stay at is nice and cozy. We are grateful to have this place to stay at. It is right on the water and only 5 minutes from two play spots. The Ottawa River is an excellent place to improve on your kayaking skills.
