Over this last week we have started to travel. For the rest of the quarter we have been pretty much stationary in WV with the exception of going to the Tallulah for a weekend and going to Richmond. This week though we started to head north, we made a few days stop in Washington D.C. which was somewhere I had never been, and took another break in Massachusetts on the way to the Ottawa.

We were given free time to explore the museums and monuments in DC. One of my favorite parts of DC was in the National art gallery where they had an exhibit with many famous artists. These artists included Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe, and Andy Goldsworthy. I also went and looked at the National air and space museum. This Museum showcased all the different stages of flight from the very beginnings to its first uses in war all the way to the most current space and flight technology. We also spent some time as a group going to some of the monuments. Many of these monuments were very moving to see especially The Vietnam memorial, because you would see veterans there who obviously knew some of the names on the wall and you would see families finding names of loved ones they had lost in the war.

Overall the trip to DC was awesome and a great stop on the way up to the Ottawa along the way up to the Ottawa we have also had some enormous help from Ian’s family and Tino’s family, who both welcomed us in and made our stops along the way up to the Ottawa even more enjoyable. Now we are up on the Ottawa finishing out the last week or so of school and surfing on some epic waves.
