Parent Trip to Chile by David Ruhle
A few of the parents decided to come down to Chile to visit and paddle with us. They spent about 10 days here, partly while we were on the Rio Fuy, one day on the San Pedro, and the rest in Pucon. Some of the parents paddled every day with us while those who didn't paddle spent time in and around town doing things. The kids who had their parents come down to visit were allowed to take off from school (yet still do the work) to spend some time with their parents.
The parents who paddled with us had the chance to do some really amazing rivers. The first day we had a warm up run on the lower Fuy, which is a fairly easy, but beautiful run. This was followed by the upper Fuy the next day. Both parents on the run ran the entire river, including the 30 foot waterfall and paddled extremely well on one of the sickest creek runs around. The parents who aren't paddlers got to see their children paddling the next day from a raft on the San Pedro, a not too difficult, but very beautiful run.
We arrived that night in Pucon, where we had a few more chances to paddle with the parents as well as spend time hanging out in and around a really cool city. All the parents seemed to have a really good time and enjoyed seeing and spending time with their kids in such an amazing place. They left for the airport mid-afternoon on Sunday the 10th, and they all made it home safely.
